Catoosa County Public School inducts two Heritage Middle School REACH GA Scholars

REACH is a state initiative to provide Georgia’s academically promising 8th grade students with the academic, social, and financial support to graduate from high school and college prepared for work.

REACH Scholars sign a contract agreeing to maintain good grades, uphold good behavior and attendance, meet with their assigned mentor twice a month, their academic coach once a month, and attend REACH activities throughout each school year until they complete high school. Their parents and guardians also sign a contract to support their Scholar’s educational pursuits. REACH Scholars who complete program requirements receive a $10,000 scholarship. The REACH Scholarship may be used at a University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia, or eligible private post-secondary institution.

Catoosa County Schools Partnership Program Steering Committee oversees this program, provides mentors, and helps raise the $3,500 matching funds for each scholarship.

Superintendent Nix and the CCPS Board of Education congratulates Colt Chandler and Kayla Eaves for being selected as the Reach Scholarship Winners for 2022!

Colt Chandler: Colt is an 8th grade student at Heritage Middle School. During his middle school career, he has excelled. Colt is an honor roll student and was recognized by his 7th grade team for having the highest math average. He has already received awards for P.E, social studies, and track. Colt also represents HMS on the soccer field. He plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in accounting.

Kayla Eaves: Kayla is an 8th grade student at Heritage Middle School. During her time as a middle schooler, Kayla has maintained honor roll status and has been involved in FFA and Drama. Outside of school, she enjoys rock climbing, rollerblading and crocheting. She plans to attend Emory University and would like to major in elementary education or a field with writing.

The Superintendent and the Board of Education would like to thank all of the wonderful sponsors for this opportunity for our CCPS students.
